Trust and safety.
Buba brings fictional characters, conversation, and creative storytelling together for adults. Knowing how the experience works helps you choose what to share and what to expect. This guide describes the current version; our terms and privacy notice explain its development status in more detail.
Always fictional. Always adult.
Every Buba companion is a fictional AI adult, and the character portraits are AI-generated. A character’s name, interests, and warm replies are part of that fiction. They do not represent a real person, consciousness, or human romantic feelings. Live companion features and accounts are intended for users aged 18 and older.
Characters you create yourself must also be fictional adults. Real-person impersonation, underage personas, and young-looking image subjects are outside the supported experience.
Understand previews and live conversations
Labeled conversation previews use scripted examples. Those replies demonstrate a character’s style; they are not generated by a live AI provider. Preview messages stay in page memory and clear when you leave the chat. Live AI conversations require a signed-in account and a configured AI service.
Live replies use character details and recent conversation messages. They can contain mistakes, vary between requests, or miss context. A saved conversation does not mean that a character has complete or permanent memory. Treat its responses as entertainment, rather than factual authority or professional advice.
Creative portraits have clear limits
The image studio supports non-explicit portraits of fully clothed, clearly adult fictional characters. You can describe a setting, outfit, or creative style. Generation requires an account and a configured image provider, and the result may differ from what you imagined. A consistent character likeness is not guaranteed.
Sexual imagery, nudity, fetish content, violence, minors, and a real person’s likeness are not supported. Request checks and provider safeguards can decline a prompt. Our community guidelines include examples of appropriate scenes and the boundaries for conversations.
Know where your information goes
Browser favorites and unsigned companion drafts are stored on your device. Signed-in account records, custom characters, conversations, and generated-image records are stored in the application database. Live chat and image creation send relevant character information and prompts or recent messages to the configured AI providers.
Generated files use private storage and are served after an account ownership check. The implementation does not provide end-to-end encryption: the application server and its configured providers process your inputs. Avoid including passwords, financial details, or sensitive personal information. Read the privacy notice for information about analytics, authentication, and storage.
Use the controls that are currently available
You can remove a local companion draft from My companions and clear browser-stored information using your browser’s site-data controls. Clearing browser data does not delete server-stored account information. Account access, export, deletion, and retention procedures are not yet available in this version and must be implemented before public launch.
Leave room for your wider world
Enjoy Buba at your own pace and keep time for relationships and activities outside the app. AI companions are not a substitute for therapy, medical care, or human support. If a conversation leaves you uncomfortable, stop and return when it feels useful to you. The Buba journal offers ideas for intentional use, and the companion directory introduces each character before you choose a chat.
